The LSU staff is eying a number of Junior College prospects late in the game, including four-star wide receiver Anthony Denham. With interest coming from coast-to-coast, the East Los Angeles CC standout is ready to visit LSU.

At 6-foot-6, 215-pounds, Anthony Denham has college coaches flocking to East Los Angeles CC. Though the likes of Arizona and Arizona State had pressed him coming out of Woodrow Wilson Senior High, Denham was now entertaining interest from schools like USC and Oregon.

Away from the West Coast, the LSU coaches began their approach.

They offered Denham a scholarship last spring, and with National Signing Day less than three months away, the staff is back to consistent contact with the four-star prospect.

“It felt great when I first got offered, but then things cooled off for a while,” Denham said. “Then I started hearing from LSU again, and now I’m back talking with them. I was even on Facebook with one of the coaches the other day.”

When it comes to finding out more about what LSU has to offer, Denham said that the next step is setting up his visits – which will include a stop in Tiger Town.

“I definitely want to see the campus and meet all the coaches,” Denham said. “I am open to taking trips, I just wanted to make sure my academics were all in order before I got too deep into the recruiting stuff.”

Denham had hoped to be a December graduate, but he will need to return to East L.A. C.C. next semester to finish up his coursework. Academically, work must still be done.

“I am on pace and have my grades up, but I just still need those other couple of classes before I can move on to a new school,” Denham said. “I’ve stayed on top of it all the best that I could.”

When it comes to teams of interest, the Tigers aren’t the only big-time program working to bring Denham in for a closer look at the campus.

“LSU, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Washington, Utah, Ole Miss, Nebraska and Arkansas have all been talking with me now,” he said. “I really don’t have any favorites right now, so I’m not leaning one way or another.

“It’s going to be about getting on these visits and meeting all the different coaches.”

Denham admits that he’s followed LSU for years, and he is intrigued most by the number of players that Les Miles has put into the NFL.

“It just looks like a good spot to be, which is why I’m trying to get out there when I can,” Denham said. “We are starting our training stuff this week, but I know those coaches will want me to fly out there sooner than later. Once I do, then I’ll know where LSU really stands.”

Denham said that he played in six games (hamstring) and caught seven touchdowns and close to 500 yards.
