LSU commits prepare for stretch run

The LSU 2012 recruiting class currently sits at number seven in the Scout.com national team rankings. With some talented additions over the course of the next few months, the Tigers have a great chance to move into the top five nationally. For the past decade the Tigers have been one of the country's most consistent programs when it comes to reeling in top talent from around the southeast.

It has been a mixed bag when it comes to team success thus far for the LSU verbal commitments.

The newest Bayou Bengal, Vadal Alexander, and fellow Buford pledge Reid Ferguson are enjoying a senior season that all players dream about.

Buford is consistently one of the top programs in their region and this year they look to be a legitimate state title contender in the state of Georgia.

BHS is currently 6-0 and scheduled to play Greater Atlanta Christian this week. Defensively Buford has only given up four touchdowns all season.

Patrick Miller and Dwyer are also enjoying an undefeated season. A 45-7 win over Santaluces last week improved the team's overall record to 5-0.

Avery Johnson and Ely have now won five games in a row and currently sit at 6-1 on the 2011 campaign.

Jalen Mills and DeSoto (7-0) look have the look of a Texas state title team this year.

DeSoto will take on 2-5 Horn High School and Oklahoma pledge De'Vante Harris this week.

Danielle Hunter and Morton Ranch got back on the winning side of things last week as they advanced their record to 4-3 after knocking off Seven Lakes on the road.

This week the Mavericks will try to keep things going as they battle Strake Jesuit.

Closer to home, Breaux Bridge will look to get back on track this week after tasting defeat for the first time last week.

Teurlings Catholic was able to limit the Tiger trio of Lamar Louis, Travin Dural and Kavahra Holmes to just seven points in a 28-7 decision.

BBHS is now 6-1 and will take on 7-0 St. Thomas More this week.

Jerald Hawkins and West St. Mary hold a 4-3 record and will look to improve on their 0-2 district record this week as they play at Delcambe.

Jerqwinick Sandolph and Hahnville dropped to 2-4 last week after losing to East St. John 27-21.

5-1 Higgins is the opponent this week.

Davante' Bourque and Crowley blasted South Beauregard last week 48-28 to improve to 4-2 on the season.

CHS will play at Jennings this week in the battle for bragging rights.

Ronnie Feist and West St. John won back to back games against Ascension Catholic and Ascension Christian to move their record to 5-2.

A chance at a 3-0 district record comes this week at White Castle.

Derrick Raymond and East Jefferson have won three in a row to improve their record to 4-2.

Last week East Jeff won in a cakewalk 49-16 over Riverdale. This week they host Ellender at Joe Yenni Stadium.

Dwayne Thomas and O.P. Walker continued their strong play by knocking off Helen Cox 32-7.

A huge game with post season seeding implications awaits this week as Belle Chasse looks to bounce back from their first loss of the season last week.

The Cardinals fell to Edna Karr and Derek Edinburgh. Karr will take on another district for this week when they strap it up against Archbishop Shaw.

Dillon Gordon and Curtis continued their assault on the competition this past week as they shelled Newman 41-0.

The Patriots will enjoy a bye week this week before they take on J.S. Clark next week.

Torshiro Davis saw his Woodlawn team fall to 1-6 on the campaign last week after a 28-6 loss to Minden.

The team will look to earn it's second win of the season this Saturday as they take on Benton.

Trey Granier and Thibodaux are having a tough go of it this year. THS lost to Terrebonne last week 20-14.

Airline tight end John Thomas is out for the season with an injury.
