The Next Newton

King Newton

The talented sophomore defensive tackle from Southlake (Texas) Carroll High comes from solid stock...

King Newton, a 6-foot-1, 240-pound Class of 2015 defensive tackle from Carroll High in Southlake, Texas is the son of former NFL star and Dallas Cowboy Nate Newton.

He is also younger brother of former Scout.com Top 300 running back Tre Newton, and that is who he looks up to for inspiration on the field.

"I look up to my older brother," King Newton said. "He is not able to play any longer, but he showed me the right way to do things and how to play hard every snap."

On Friday night, Newton got the chance to play in Cowboys Stadium for the first time. Carroll rolled to an easy win over Arlington Martin, and has been on a real tear as of late in the multi-million dollar facility after capturing the 5A-DI State Championship there a season ago.

It is no easy task for a sophomore to break in to the starting lineup at SLC, but Newton has worked hard for his playing time.

"It's tough," Newton answered when asked about cracking in to the lineup at a young age. "Playing here teaches you that you have to work hard every day in practice. You have to work hard on and off of the field."

It is a little early for him in the recruiting process to be talking to seriously about it, but he has his eyes on a few schools.

"Texas, Alabama and LSU," Newton responded when asked who he had his eyes on.

Newton's father played at Florida A&M in college and his brother played at Texas.
