Practice Report: 11/26

Chris Black, who has been medically cleared to play, ditched the no-contact jersey in Monday's practice. Alabama head coach Nick Saban said that with Kenny Bell going down, he may have to "revisit" the decision to redshirt or play Black in the Crimson Tide's final two games.

It's do or die time for Alabama. Win Saturday's SEC Championship game against Georgia and (likely) advance to the national championship to play Notre Dame, or lose and be cut out from a BCS bowl all together.

The Crimson Tide began working on making the former a reality Monday as they started preparing for the Bulldogs in the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility. The media was only granted one five-minute period to watch practice, so here are some observations:

--With Kenny Bell going down with a broken leg against Auburn, Alabama head coach Nick Saban said Monday that more guys will need to step up. He also revealed Sunday on a teleconference that freshman wide receiver Chris Black, who hasn't played a down all season after injuring his shoulder in August, has been medically cleared to play.

"We may have to revisit whether we decide to redshirt him or go ahead and let him play," Saban said.

Black, who ditched the black no-contact jersey he's sported in practice the past three weeks, looked sharp during media viewing, as you can see in the video below (he's No. 5).

"[Chris Black] has been practicing for three weeks now," Saban said Monday. "He's been cleared so we're going to try to get him some reps because we're getting down to where we only have maybe five guys that have much experience at the position.

"You'd like to be able to roll guys in and out at that position. Guys get a little winded at times, especially when they run a lot of deep routes or when you go two-minute or something. We definitely need to get more guys ready to play."

--Nose guard Brandon Ivory (ankle) wasn't very active in practice. Saban said it might be two or three days until he'd be good to go again.
