The Gators lost their fourth junior to the NFL on Monday morning when Florida announced that redshirt junior linebacker Jelani Jenkins will forgo his senior year and head to the NFL.

"Jelani informed me that he wishes to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL," said Florida head coach Will Muschamp. "We wish him the best of luck and encourage him to return to Florida and complete his degree."

Jelani Jenkins was banged up throughout the 2012 season, playing in nine games while fighting foot and wrist issues. Jenkins made 29 tackles, including five for a loss and two sacks. He also intercepted a pass and forced two quarterback hurries.

The redshirt junior closes out his Florida career played in 36 games and starting 31. He made 182 career tackles and had six sacks.

The play he will likely be best known for is returning the blocked punt against Louisiana with two seconds left to secure the Florida win.
