Dwight looking to learn more
Though Wilcox County HS has churned out some FBS-level recruits in the past, major programs don't frequently come through. This year appears to be the exception as Dwight has already picked up a pair of offers, with another possibly coming soon.
Already holding an offer from North Carolina, Dwight added an offer from LSU last week. It came as a bit of a surprise for Dwight, who'd only received generic letters from the Tigers.
"I really didn't expect it," Dwight said. "But once they told me, there's a lot to like about it. I talked with one of the coaches [last week]. I know a little bit about them, but I look forward to learning more."
A 6-3, 298-pound defensive tackle, Dwight obviously has the big body LSU likes to utilize on the interior defensive line. But Dwight also has some athleticism, participating in track and also helped lead the Wilcox County basketball team to a state championship appearance.
Dwight had 42 tackles in his junior season, including 16 for a loss and three sacks. He said he has a skillset that would mesh well with what LSU likes to do on defense, and he added that he's a versatile lineman.
"I think I'd fit in pretty well," Dwight said. "I switch it up a little bit. I use a different move every play. I'll bull rush, and I'll swim. I'm a little bit of both, but I'm mainly a run-stopper."
In addition to UNC and LSU, Dwight said he's heard frequently from Alabama as well.
"I like them," Dwight said. "They said they're wanting to offer me too. They're going to keep in touch with me and everything."
His busy basketball and track schedule has prevented him from hitting the road too much this spring. He has visited UNC — where his teammate Johnathan Howard signed in February — earlier this month.
With his recruitment expected to take off in the coming months, Dwight said he's eagerly anticipating the attention.
"I hear from different schools a lot," Dwight said. "So it's alright. It's only going to get better and better."
