TSD's Ben Love caught up with LSU defensive end Jordan Allen after the Tigers' 56-17 win over UAB Saturday night. The redshirt junior and former West Monroe star shared his thoughts on the victory and Cameron Robinson committing to Alabama.

Following LSU's 56-17 win over UAB Saturday night, TSD's Ben Love caught up with starting DE Jordan Allen.

The redshirt junior from West Monroe opened up on his role on the defensive line, how the 'D' is playing through two games and what he thinks about Cameron Robinson committing to Alabama this week.

Ben Love: Jordan, two games in, is this about where you expected individually and as a unit this defense would be?

Jordan Allen: I guess my expectations were just to go out there and play dominant. For this game, I feel like we established that in the first, third and fourth (quarters). The coaches came in (at halftime) and told us that the second quarter wasn't us. I feel the same way. I feel like that doesn't reflect all the hard work and effort that we put in over the summer and throughout camp. But I feel like we're going to grow from that and we're going to build. We're going to know that we have an offense that's running the way that it's running, just non-stop. So we've got to play the same way. We've got to give them the same effort they're giving us.

BL: Last year you guys had defensive ends that kind of had roles. [Barkevious] Mingo and [Sam] Montgomery were pass rushers, [Lavar] Edwards could play the run. What's your role?

JA: My role is to play LSU defense. That's pretty much all I can say, and that's the role of every guy out there. Yeah, we have packages that people can go in and out, but at the end you have to be able to play hard-nosed LSU defense.

BL: As a West Monroe alum, I know you saw the Cameron Robinson commitment this week. What are your thoughts on that?

JA: Well, I was kind of tore up about it. I really wanted him to come down here. I saw him back whenever he was in high school, or he still is I guess. I saw him play a couple of games, and I met him a couple of times. He's a great kid. He comes from a really good background. I know going through that program he's well-educated and is real football-savvy. I feel like we lost a real good recruit there, but where we lose one, we're going to pick up something. He's going to miss that one spot, and we're going to fill it up with somebody who's willing to come in here and give it everything he's got.
