The game had originally been pushed up from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 3:30 p.m. to avoid inclement weather expected in Northwest Louisiana on Tuesday night. But temperatures below freezing and steady precipitation in the Baton Rouge area forced several road closures, preventing LSU from departing Tuesday morning.
The team was set to leave from Alex Box Stadium at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, but LSU announced a little while later the game had been postponed to Thursday.
The Tigers' next contest will be Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. against Sacred Heart. Brady Domangue will be the starting pitcher.
Freshman Jared Poche was slated to start Tuesday against Northwestern State. It is not yet known if he will still start when the Tigers head north on Thursday.
The Tigers will have five games in five days starting Wednesday, as LSU plays host to Purdue this weekend for a three-game set. The Tigers will also have a pair of midweek games next week on Tuesday (vs. Nicholls) and Wednesday (vs. Southern). Both games are set for 6:30 p.m.
