Lewis was not one of the 10 finalists participating in the event, but he had his special moment on national television as he told the world of his decision to rejoin the Tigers' class.
"It came down to Texas and LSU," Lewis told Scout. "I made my mind up on the plane and I knew where I was going as soon as I landed. Both recruited me very hard, both have very good defensive back coaches, so it was a very tough decision."
Lewis was one of the Tigers' first commits in the 2015 class, pledging last fall, but he reopened his recruitment in February to explore all his options. He made good use of that time, visiting several schools on his offer list, and ultimately selected LSU over his other finalists — Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma State.
The East St. John standout gives LSU 13 commits in the Class of 2015 and eight from the state of Louisiana. He's the third DB in the class and the second corner along with Kevin Toliver, the nation's best at that position.
Lewis rates as a four-star prospect, the No. 29 CB and No. 221 overall prospect in the country. He's the 11th best player in Louisiana for his class.
His addition to the Tigers' class moves LSU up from No. 10 to No. 7 in the overall team rankings.
LSU first offered Lewis at camp last summer. He only waited a couple months to commit, doing so at the same time as his close friend Nicholas Brossette. But shortly before National Signing Day for the 2014 class, Lewis opted to drop that pledge, not wanting to be a commit while he visited other schools.
But even though several big-time programs came calling for his services, Lewis couldn't refuse the opportunity to play the home-state school.
"There wasn't any pressure for me to stay home," Lewis said. "I just wanted to ensure I was making the right decision. I only get to do this once...My decision was based on coaches' trust. The stadium, the crowd, everything about the university is what I loved."
Lewis wasn't 100 percent sure the first time he decided to commit to LSU. This time he has no doubts.
"This is my final decision and I will not take any other official visits besides LSU," he said.
Lewis is another big-time defensive back the Tigers will add to their stable. Here's a look at his junior highlights:
