The West squad does not boast the prolific group of wide receivers that the East does, nonetheless…
Is Perrish Cox LSU's next commitment?
"It was tight," said Waco (Texas) University product Perrish Cox (6-0, 170, 4.45). "They showed me a real good time." Cox is Scout.com's No. 6 rated corner in the land and a big target for Les Miles and his staff. As a senior he picked off eight passes and recorded eight touchdowns as a receiver showing that he has the skills to play on either side of the ball. The four-star recruit almost committed to LSU over the summer but at the time he said Miles and LSU defensive backs coach Doug Mallory were talking more about him playing receiver than his preferred position at corner. "We talked about it over the weekend and they mentioned both positions but mainly corner," Cox said. "That is what I want to play so I was glad to hear them talk about that." LSU cornerback Chevis Jackson hosted Cox for the weekend and deserves some credit if the Lonestar product becomes a Tiger. "Me and Chevis were real tight," Cox said. "We hung out a lot and it was cool. He is just like me in a lot of ways. I enjoyed seeing everything but hanging out with Chevis was what I enjoyed the most." Cox had already visited Oklahoma, Nebraska and Oklahoma State before his trip to LSU and when asked which one he liked the most he gave a quick answer. "LSU was a whole lot better," he said. "Nebraska and Oklahoma was not all that. Oklahoma State was OK but LSU got the upper hand." So is LSU his leader? "They are my No. 1 school followed by Oklahoma State," he said. Cox said he would like to announce his decision before Christmas but it could come any day now. "I know everything I need to know about all of the schools so now I just need to sit down with my mommy and daddy to talk about it," he said. "I already know where I am going but we just need to talk about it as a family." Note: It looks like LSU coaches and fans could be getting some good news as early as this week with Cox's commitment. From our interview, the only thing for LSU to worry about is his grades as he is close to qualifying. He reports a 2.5 GPA and a 15 on the ACT.
