One player who will be tripping to
the Capital City
for the recruiting extravaganza is Tallahassee
(Fla.) Godby
cornerback Marcus Udell (5-11, 185, 4.5).
Udell was a guy LSU was high on
during the May evaluation period and through the summer. He kind of dropped off
the Tigers’ radar during the latter stages of the summer but when Jai Eugene
committed to Michigan last week that left Miles searching
for someone to fill that need.
“They were one of my top schools
for a while but they kind of stopped calling,” Udell told Tiger Rag. “Then in
the last few weeks coach (Doug) Mallory and coach (Josh) Henson have been
calling.”
Udell already took official visits
to North Carolina State (12/2), Maryland (12/16) and Alabama (1/13). He has a trip scheduled to
South Carolina
for the last weekend in January but before he travels to check out the Gamecocks
he has something else on his agenda.
“I’m ready to get to LSU so I can
see what they have,” he said. “I know they’re known for defense and the coaches
are cool. I’ve also heard that they have some of the best facilities around but
I’m really interested in seeing how the players are with one
another.”
Udell said that the LSU coaches are
scheduled to make their in-home visit this week with Miles and Henson traveling
to Tallahassee.
“I’ve talked to coach Miles once
but that is it,” Udell said. “I want to sit down and talk with him some to see
what kind of guy he is. I’ve heard some good things about him but I need to see
for myself.”
Udell’s Numbers: (Sr.) 8 interceptions/18 pass
breakups/50 tackles. (Jr.) 54 tackles/4 interceptions/10 pass break-ups/3 fumble
recoveries/3 fumbles caused.
