C.C. Carpenter Has a Full Agenda

West Monroe LB ready to hit the road.

With spring training winding down, C.C. Carpenter, a junior linebacker from West Monroe, plans to prepare for his senior season by taking part various camps over the summer.

Carpenter, who recorded 122 tackles during his junior season, was a first team all-state selection last year and is currently being looked at by coaches at LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn and Louisiana Tech.

"Right now, I'd say it's a toss up between LSU and Auburn," Carpenter said of the schools he is most interested in. "They have both really impressed me and I like them a lot."

When asked what he likes about the two SEC Tigers, he said that he really likes the community of Auburn, Ala., and that LSU has a great student-athlete program and facilities.

Carpenter visited Junior Day at LSU and claims to have been impressed with the Bayou Bengals program and coaches.

"I want to get to know all the schools' coaches better," he also commented, "that could help me make my decision."

The 6'0'' 220 lb. linebacker also expressed excitement in visiting the two schools, as well as Ole Miss, and getting to know their programs better.

One feature that has got coaches throughout the south looking at Carpenter has been the effort he gives play-to-play.

"[The coaches] all told me they love the way I get to the ball every play. Even when I'm not always in on the play, I'm right there by it," he said.

C.C., who also throws the discus for the Rebel track and field team, has made plans to attend various camps this summer, including the scout camp in Tuscaloosa, the Nike camp in Baton Rouge, and team camps at LSU, Tech and Auburn."

The main weakness he plans to work on improving over the next year is his speed, which C.C. feels can be faster than it is now. He currently holds a time of 4.7 in the 40 but hopes to improve it to 4.6 or 4.5 by next season.

"I need to go into every work out now and push to make myself better," he said, "I don't want to look back on my senior season with any regrets."
