Word is quickly getting around that
LSU picked up a commitment from one of the top quarterbacks in the country in
Jarrett Lee and that could play a big role in the Tigers landing one of the
country’s top wide receivers.
Hempstead (Texas) wide out Terrance Toliver (6-5, 182, 4.5) has always mentioned LSU as one of his top schools and
now with Lee on board interest has picked up.
“For real,” Toliver said when asked
if he knew Lee had committed. “That’s a plus for LSU because I really like that
guy. That’s a definitely a plus for them.”
Brenham is only about 20 minutes
away from Hempstead so Toliver is very familiar
with Lee and what he brings to the table.
“He’s good,” Toliver said. “The
first time I saw him, I was like I wish I had somebody like that throwing to me.
That guy can throw the ball.”
Toliver said he is up to 17 or 18
scholarship offers but he nowhere near being ready to make a
commitment.
“Not right now,” he said. “My coach
wouldn’t appreciate that because he doesn’t want any drama. He doesn’t want me
committing to a school and then changing my mind.”
Even though Toliver said he is not
ready to name an outright leader he said that LSU took a step
forward.
“That’s why I said LSU has a plus
with me because I’d like to play with Jarrett Lee,” said Toliver. “I’m going to
have to call coach (Larry) Porter (LSU running backs coach) and talk to him
about that.”
