Lee Talks About LSU Pledge

Signing a top-notch quarterback was a major point of emphasis for LSU in the Class of 2007 and the Tigers took a huge step forward towards accomplishing that goal by getting a commitment from Jarrett Lee.

Lee, a 6-2, 190-pounder out of Brenham (Texas), is considered by some to be the top quarterback in the Lonestar State for '07. He earned that praise for the strong showing he had as a junior where he completed 250-of-350 passes for 3,500 and 40 touchdowns while operating out of a spread offense.

Lee's offer has grown to 15 over the past few weeks and in the end his decision came down to LSU and Nebraska.

What gave the Tigers the edge?

"The visit is what gave them the edge," Lee said. "When we went there it was only a 4 and a half hour drive so that was a big plus. Then it was the facilities, the coaches, the atmosphere, the campus. It really was everything about LSU."

On his unofficial visit, Lee also spent quite a bit of time with LSU offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher.

"We talked a lot about the offense and comparing it to what we do now," said Lee. "They do a lot of things we do. We also talked about the depth chart and how they didn't sign a quarterback last year. That was something I looked at too."

Lee said he was glad to have recruiting behind him and now he is looking forward to being a Tiger.

"It [recruiting] was fun  for a little while but it started to get hectic," he said. "Now, I can focus on my senior season and get ready for LSU. It's exciting to have it over with."

With Lee in the fold, LSU now has nine commitments for 2007.
