4-star safety Stefoin Francois (6-1, 190, 4.5) is taking his first official visit of the year this weekend, and it will be to LSU.

The East St. John product said he is also looking at Florida State, Florida and Tennessee as possible options but he hasn't set anything up yet.

LSU has been very successful at landing East St. John prospects over the last few years and the Tigers have some things working in their favor.

"I like LSU because it's my home school and I know they program has really done well over the past few years," said Francois. "It's close to home and the coaches are real cool. The academics are great, too. Whenever you can play for a national title and stay close to your family that is pretty tough to pass up."

What stands out with the other schools on his short list?

Florida State – "I really feel like I could go there and come in and play early. I really like their coaching staff, too."

Florida – "I like their coaching staff a lot too. I kind of always liked them growing up so they're a team I've kept up with."

Tennessee -  "It's kind of the same as Florida. I watched them growing up and they've done a really good job of recruiting."

Francois said he talked with coach Larry Porter yesterday and that they put the finishing touches on his itinerary for his official visit this weekend.

"I'm looking to see how the other coaches are and meet some of the players," said the nation's 4th rated safety. "I am going to be looking to get a feel for the campus and what the school is all about."

Francois said there will only be one factor in determining what school he attends.

"I really just want to play early," he said. "Whatever school looks like I'd have the best opportunity to do that is the school I'm going to choose."
