Earl Lane has managed to pick up one commitment out of Glades Central High School in Belle Glades (Fla.) but the Tigers defensive line coach is looking to hit the trifecta.

Ernest McCoy is a Tiger and 5-star receiver Deonte Thompson has LSU high on his list.

The last member of the trio is 4-star safety Damien Berry (5-11, 195, 4.6) and he will be traveling to Baton Rouge in January to check things out for himself.

"I haven't gotten to check out in Baton Rouge in person yet but I'm going on Jan. 19," Berry said. "I've heard good things like they are a college town that supports the school."

Berry has heard a lot about LSU from Thompson and McCoy and the three have talked about spending their college years together.

"We've talked about it and it would be real cool if we did but that's not what we're all basing our choices on," explained Bell.

Along with LSU, Berry said that there are four other teams he is still considering.

"I like Miami, LSU, Florida and UCLA," said Berry. "Those are the schools I want to check out some more."

Here is what he had to say about each of those schools.

Miami- "I like Miami's atmosphere and the defense. They have a good, steady defense every year."

LSU- "I like Baton Rouge and how it supports the school. They also have a rising team that is going to be good for several years. That would be a great program to get into."

Florida- "Like LSU, Florida has a strong team. Their offense is really connecting. The defense is struggling some, but it's somewhere I could make an impact."

UCLA- "They are a great school all around. I feel like I could play on either side of the ball there."

Berry said that the town of Baton Rouge was one of the topics he discussed with LSU running back coach Larry Porter during Porter's visit to his house last week.

"It's been cool talking to coach Porter," said Berry. "He said I could also be used at cornerback at LSU, and would be a good fit in the LSU defense."

One school that figures to be a thorn in the Tigers' side in the hunt for Berry and Thompson is Miami as Berry committed to them a while back.

All of the turmoil surrounding the program and the coaching change opened his recruitment back up and now that the Canes have named Randy Shannon as Coker's replacement does that do anything to solidify his pledge?

"I'm glad it's coach Shannon and I'm still sort of committed to them but I'm also going to check out some places," Berry said.

Berry said that he would announce his final decision following his visits, the next of which after LSU is set for Miami on January 25.
