LSU and USC at the top

Campbell has two at the top

At one point in the early going LSU was the leader for offensive tackle Daniel Campbell but now the Tigers have some company at the top of his list.

"It's LSU and USC," said the 6-5, 325-poundeout of Aldine, Texas.

What has propelled the Tigers and Trojans to the top?

"They're both all-around good programs," said Campbell. "The offensive lines are great and the coaches there make you a better lineman.

"I love talking to the offensive line coach at LSU because he is really cool. He's so full of energy. Also, the academics there are great. The entire program is great.

"USC is just known for winning. They have won the most national championships lately."

Along with his two favorites, Campbell said that he has picked up offers from Kansas State, Kansas, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Houston, Florida, BYU, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Arizona, Minnesota, Georgia, Missouri, and Purdue.

There is a local flavor to his list of offers but
he said that leaving Texas will not be a problem for him.

"It doesn't really matter how far away a school is as long as I am able to fit in well, that is what is important," he said. "I just want to go somewhere that is going to have the best combination of academics and football."

Because he hasn't visited USC yet, Campbell said he couldn't compare his two favorites but he did say that he plans to attend a USC football camp this summer.

"I'll probably make it to three camps this summer," he said. "I'm going to LSU, USC and Texas. Texas is the closest to my hometown so I figured I'd give them a shot and just see what they are all about. I just want to make sure I know all of my options so I can weigh them out."

LSU linebackers coach Bradley Dale Peveto is recruiting Campbell for the Tigers and the two talked not too long ago.

"I talked with him a couple of days ago and he was just telling me about how things were going down there and asking me how I was doing," said Campbell. "We talked about school and grades and regular recruiting stuff. He seems like a pretty cool guy."
