LSU is having quite a morning. As many expected JaMarcus Russell to be taken as the No. 1 overall pick, Tiger fans got a bit of surprise five picks later.

Laron Landry fully expected to be taken between the 10th and 15th pick, but No. 6?

The former all-American safety from LSU had his name called as the sixth pick in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins Saturday afternoon.

Landry did not make the trip to the Big Apple for the Draft at Radio City Music Hall. Instead, Landry watched the draft show on television with his family in Ama, La.

LSU now has had a first round pick in each of the last four seasons with Michael Clayton in 2004, Marcus Spears in 2005 and Joseph Addai last year. The Tigers will try and tie the 1951 LSU team that produced three first rounders. Dwayne Bowe is expected to be picked later today as a projected first round selection. Craig Davis could sneak into the first round giving LSU a record four first round picks.

Stay tuned.
