Tigers get back to work on Monday

We will be on the scene for coach Les Miles' press conference on Monday and complete coverage of the Tigers return to the practice in preparation for Ohio State in the BCS National Championship Game.

With final exams now behind them, LSU will begin its preparations for the BCS National Championship Game against Ohio State when the second-ranked Tigers return to practice on Monday afternoon.

LSU (11-2) and Ohio State (11-1) will meet at the Louisiana Superdome on Monday, Jan. 7 for the BCS National Championship. Kickoff for the contest is slated for 7 p.m. and will be televised nationally by FOX.

The Tigers will actually start a busy week of work on Sunday night as the team will be honored at its annual Senior Banquet at 7 o'clock at the Holiday Inn Select. Among the awards that will be handed out Sunday night include the Charles McClendon Most Valuable Player honor as well as the most outstanding players on offense and defense. The permanent team captains will also be announced on Sunday night.

On Monday, LSU will entertain a host of national, regional and statewide media as the Tigers will conduct a press conference to preview the Ohio State game. The Tigers will then have the first of six practices next week on Monday afternoon.

On Tuesday, several members of the LSU football team will receive their college diploma as the fall graduation ceremony will be held on campus. Those players who are expected to graduate on Tuesday include tight ends Mit Cole and Keith Zinger, cornerback Jonathan Zenon, and defensive end Kirston Pittman.

The Tigers will continue their workouts each afternoon next concluding with a morning session on Dec. 22. The team will then break three days for Christmas before returning to campus on the afternoon of Dec. 26.

LSU will get back to practice on Dec. 27 and continue with workouts at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility through Jan. 2. LSU will report to New Orleans on the afternoon of Jan. 2 as they continue its bowl game preparations leading up to the national title contest on Jan. 7 at the Louisiana Superdome.
