Ford vs. Mingo

Barkevious Mingo

Hurricane Gustav put a damper on the first week of high school football in Louisiana as many schools had to cancel or reschedule the season opener. Leesville and West Monroe were two of the schools that fell victim to Gustav but rather than cancel completely the two schools did some reorganizing and squared off against one another on Saturday.

The match up featured the top running back in the state in Michael Ford against the top linebacker prospect in Louisiana in Barkevious Mingo.

Mingo and the Rebels defeated Ford's Wampus Cats 28-7 but the Leesville running back had a strong showing against a West Monroe defense that is very stout.

Ford carried the ball 21 times and racked up 180 yards which was his 10th straight 100-yard rushing performance. Mingo was very active from his safety spot as he was in on six tackles and he broke up two passes. Recruiting Analyst Brian Trahan was there to cover the action and here are some photos of Ford and Mingo in action. Recommended Stories
