Big Visit for Reed

Cedric Reed

There are no game day weekends bigger than this for LSU recruiting. Cedric Reed caught up with TigerSportsDigest.com to talk about why he decided to make the trip.

For a select few high school juniors, early September brought their first college scholarship offers.

The Tiger staff hit the ground running in Louisiana, offering a slew of prospects and landing a pair of early commitments.

One of the few out-of-state targets to receive the good news from Les Miles was Lone Star State defensive end Cedric Reed.

“When LSU offered, it was definitely a big moment for me,” he said. “I have offers from about 11 schools now, but that LSU one definitely stood out.”

  • A four-star prospect, the 6-foot-5, 245-pound Reed said that he has a strong interest in both LSU and Texas, though the Longhorns have yet to offer.

“Both teams are recruiting me really hard,” he said. “I definitely like both schools.”

While the Cleveland High standout plans to visit Austin on October 17 for the Oklahoma game, a trip to the bayou is up first.

“I am coming to check out the LSU game against Florida this weekend,” Reed said. “It will be my first time going to Tiger Stadium, and that is what has me excited. I am ready to get down there and see what it is really all about.”

Reed, who will travel with his parents and arrive on Saturday morning, said that the weekend serves as the perfect opportunity to continue to get to know the Tiger staff – who have been in heavy contact over the past few months.

“Coach [Brick] Haley and coach [John] Chavis have both talked to me recently, and they were really excited about offering me and now about getting me into town,” he said. “They are really good coaches, I found that out when I came to camp in July.

“Now, I look forward to building on things.”
