The Lady Tigers (19-4, 7-2 SEC) were led by Doneeka Hodges' 22 points and Seimone Augustus' 20, while Temeka Johnson tied her own school record with 15 assists to go with 14 points, Wendlyn Jones added 13 points and Hanna Biernacka had 12.

Gunter, absent from her eighth game for medical reasons, became just the third coach in women's basketball history to reach the milestone. She joins Tennessee's Pat Summitt and Texas' Jody Conradt.

"It's wonderful," LSU associate coach Pokey Chatman said about Gunter's milestone victory. "It is special to me because I have been here with her for so long. We always joke about why she reached 700 and it is because she has been doing this for a long time and she's done it really well."

Gunter, who is in her 40th season as a collegiate head coach, has been on the LSU sidelines for 22 years and has 434 wins as Lady Tigers head coach.

LSU and Arkansas (15-8, 3-6 SEC) battled tough in the first 20 minutes with the Lady Tigers taking a 36-32 lead into the locker room at the half. LSU then came out in the second half and put up 56 points on 21-30 shooting for a 70.0 percent clip.

"The most rewarding part of this victory was effort and execution," Chatman said. "Early in the game the effort was there, but the execution was not, but as the game progressed, the effort stayed the same and the execution was there."

The Lady Tigers pulled away using a 10-2 run early in the half and led 46-34, but Arkansas chipped back and cut the lead down to seven with 6:41 left to play. LSU then rolled off a 26-4 run to take a 29-point lead with 1:33 left to play.

Arkansas also had five players in double figures led by Kristin Moore and April Seggebruch's 13.

The Lady Tigers' defense held Shameka Christon, the Southeastern Conference's leading scorer, to 10 points on 2-6 shooting from the floor with six free throws. LSU's defense also forced 18 turnovers and collected nine steals the converted to 18 points off the turnovers. Arkansas also shot 39.7 percent from the floor in the game.

LSU finished the game shooting 60.0 percent and collected 26 assists.

"The offense was clicking on all cylinders tonight," Chatman said. "When you have 26 assists on 33 made baskets that is Lady Tigers' basketball."

The victory was also the 300th for the Lady Tigers in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and the 13th straight at home, including a perfect 12-0 this season.

The Lady Tigers moved back into sole possession on second place in the SEC standing with the victory and Florida's loss at Mississippi State. LSU and Florida will tangle on Sunday at 2 p.m. CST in the O'Connell Center in Gainesville.
