High School: Melancon burst onto the scene when he was voted first team all-state and his district’s most valuable player. His production never dropped off over his sophomore and junior seasons as he recorded 198 tackles with 48 behind the line of scrimmage, 14 sacks, and 12 forced fumbles.
He reports a 2.5 GPA and received a 17 on his second ACT attempt. He will schedule another ACT this fall.
Coach's Comments: “His explosive first step makes him so tough to block,” said Lutcher head coach Tim Detillier. “He really moves well laterally and that allows him to make plays all over the field. On the football field, Ro gets it. He understands the game. He has made all of the calls and alignments on defense since he was a freshman.”
