He may well be the most improved player in college basketball when you take in the point he started at LSU to the present, which will be his second year of graduate school ... A good junior season was interrupted by injury, which finally shut him down with ankle surgery on March 1 ... Rehabbed over the summer and should be ready to go for his final season.
JUNIOR SEASON (2001-2002) Played in 21 games, starting 19 in a season of injury problems which began on Dec. 15 when he sprained his right ankle against McNeese State ... Temple would miss one game before returning, but would miss another game late in December with tendonitis ... He returned, but two days after the Jan. 19 Auburn game, an MRI showed a partially torn tendon in his foot ... He returned after missing one game, finally respraining the ankle late in the Feb. 6 Vandy game ... He missed three games, playing sparingly in the next two before having his season ended on March 1 when Baton Rouge doctors Larry Ferachi and Brent Bankston did a reconstruction on a ruptured tendon in his foot and reconstructed his right ankle ... Averaged 28.1 minutes a game ... Tied for second on the team in scoring at 13.4 points per game ... Also averaged 6.0 rebounds a game and 2.24 assists ... Earned SEC Player of the Week honors for Dec. 3 for back-to-back 20-plus point games against Towson (Nov. 28) and Northwestern State (Dec. 2) ... Against Towson, Temple made 10-of-12 shots, 24 points, seven rebounds, five steals and two assists ... Temple also scored 24 points versus Northwestern State on 7-of-14 shooting, including four three-pointers, with 13 rebounds, four assists and two steals ... It marked the first Player of the Week for an LSU player since Feb. 14, 2000 ... Opened the season with double figures in the first eight games prior to spraining his ankle, including 20-plus games in the last four (22-vs. Mercer, Nov. 25; 24-Towson, Nov. 28; 24-Northwestern State, Dec. 2; 20-vs. Louisiana Lafayette, Dec. 4) ... A total of 14 games in double figures, seven of 20 or more points ... SOPHOMORE SEASON (2000-2001) Averaged 14.1 points per game while averaging 4.6 rebounds ... Started 28 of 29 games, averaging 31.7 minutes a game ... Had team best 53 three pointers ... Had double-figures in 21 games ... Best basket of the season was on Feb. 28 with 6.4 seconds in overtime when he tipped in Brian Beshara's miss in the 78-77 win over Ole Miss ... Had 30 points in season finale at Tennessee, the first 30-point game by an LSU players since Nov. 27, 1999 ... Against UT (March 2), Temple hit 7-of12 field goals, including a career high six treys ... He also tied career assists mark of four in the 39-minute effort ... His previous scoring high was 27 at Mississippi State when he hit a career-high 10 field goals ... 12th in the league in scoring ... Eighth in the league in free-throw percentage (88-of-120, 73.3 percent ... Ninth in the league in three-point field goal percentage (53-of-146, 36.3 percent) ... Six games of 20 points or more topped by his 30 points game at Tennessee ... Hit 45.1 percent from the field this season with one double-double, a 20-point, 10 rebound effort against Nicholls State (Dec. 22).
